Are You Asking the Right Questions?
Your initial phone conversation with a customer is crucial. You want to ask the right questions to get the clearest picture of the situation possible. Make a checklist and ask the following questions as suggested in the IICRC S500:
  • What is the source and condition of the water?
  • When did the damage occur?
  • Do you own or lease the property (insurance information)?
  • What steps have been taken to repair or eliminate the source?
  • Which areas are affected (number of rooms, size)?
  • How much furniture is present in the affected areas (possible staining, personnel requirements)?
  • Has there been previous water damage (source, extent, and was any remediation performed)?
Get answers to these questions and you’ll have a solid starting point for the job!
